One of Miguel Berrocal's most recognizable puzzle sculptures, Le Mini David takes Michelangelo's iconic subject and reduces it to an abstracted, headless male torso rendered in high-polish nickel-plated metal, raised on a low cylindrical base. The compact, columnar form is built from Berrocal's signature interlocking segments — banded ridges wrap the torso in overlapping, sash-like divisions, each piece nesting into the next with the precision the artist was celebrated for. A small brass or gilt element at the figure's base marks the sculpture's genital detail, a recurring device across Berrocal's small-format nudes, and the entire work separates fully into its component pieces for hand reassembly. Produced in Italy in the late 1960s, Le Mini David was among the most widely distributed of Berrocal's tabletop editions, bringing his monumental sculptural vocabulary into a pocket-sized, collectible multiple.
