Paul Milet was a French ceramist, born in 1870 in Sèvres. He trained as a chemist and worked in his father’s factory who was also a ceramist. He was lucky to be surrounded and influenced by many other artists and eventually, Milet took over his father’s work. The quality of his pioneering work became appreciated and he was exhibited several times prior to the First World War. Owning a showroom, an exhibition gallery and his wares being sold in French department stores widened this important artist’s influence, which is still recognised in the world of ceramics today. Milet died in 1950.
