This is an Art Deco cameo glass vase from the Le Verre Français line of Schneider, decorated with a stylised bellflower motif in warm orange, yellow and maroon tones.
It is made of multi-layered coloured glass: a mottled yellow–orange ground overlaid with a darker reddish-brown layer that has been acid-etched to create the design in relief (cameo glass). The etched areas are then polished, producing a contrast between the glossy raised decoration and the softer, semi-matte background, a hallmark of Le Verre Français production between about 1918 and 1932.
Charles Schneider was a renowned glassmaker during the Art Deco period in France. He was known for his beautiful and intricate creations. He was one of the founder of a glassware company called Le Verre Francais. The company was known for its colorful and complex designs, often inspired by nature.
