This sophisticated Art Deco club chair was designed by René Joubert and Philippe Petit for the prestigious Paris firm DIM (Décoration Intérieure Moderne). The cubic frame in warm mahogany is expressed as clean, vertical “picture frame” sides resting on a stepped, ribbed plinth base, a hallmark of French Modernist seating of the period. A domed back and deep, loose cushion soften the architecture of the frame and provide generous lounge comfort.
Newly reupholstered in a luxurious leopard-pattern textile, the chair becomes a strong graphic volume, the bold pattern playing against the sober mahogany structure. The proportions are compact yet substantial, making it ideal as a focal accent chair in a living room, dressing room, or study. This piece exemplifies DIM’s refined, small-edition production for an elite clientele, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern, streamlined design
