A handsome pair of mid-century French table lamps, each with a faceted, diamond-cut opalescent glass body in soft milky white, rising in a tapered ovoid form from a stepped chrome base. The multi-faceted glass catches and softens the light beautifully, giving the lamps a quiet, jewel-like presence whether lit or not. Each is fitted with a wide, coolie-form parchment (parchemin) shade edged in black trim, a pairing that lends the lamps a crisp, tailored look well suited to both classic and contemporary interiors.
The restrained geometry of the faceted glass and the polished chrome base give these lamps a distinctly French mid-century sensibility — substantial and sculptural without being ornate. Sold as a true pair, they would suit a pair of nightstands, console tables, or either side of a sofa equally well.
