A striking spherical vase in opalescent glass by André Hunebelle, exemplifying the geometric Cubist idiom that defined French Art Deco glasswork of the late 1920s. The compressed globular body is encircled by tiered horizontal ribbing that gives way to a bold, all-over pattern of stepped, faceted rectangles and triangular motifs — a hallmark of Hunebelle's architectural approach to pressed glass design. The short, rolled collar neck sits atop the case, opening to reveal the glass's signature opalescent effect: a milky white body that blushes into pale blue-lavender tones where the glass thins, particularly visible at the rim and interior.
The molded geometric decoration reads almost like a mosaic of cut planes, catching and diffusing light across its faceted surface — a technique Hunebelle favored to animate otherwise simple pressed forms with dimensionality and sculptural interest. The piece is molded to the underside "A. HUNEBELLE FRANCE,"

André Hunebelle was a French decorative artist and later a noted filmmaker who, during the Art Deco period, designed and produced opalescent and pressed glass through the Verrerie d'Art Lorraine. His glasswork is celebrated for its confident geometric patterning and technical mastery of opalescence, placing him alongside contemporaries like Sabino and Etling in the French decorative glass movement of the interwar years.
