An elegant French modernist dish by Christofle, shaped as a single stylized leaf. The deep, smooth bowl tapers to a point at each end, and a slender stem curves up and outward from the base of the leaf to form a handle. The design uses no surface decoration. Instead, it relies on pure form and a mirror-polished finish, which picks up and reflects the colors of the room around it. The piece carries on the Art Deco preference for clean, simplified natural motifs into the postwar period. It works well as a vide-poche, a catchall, or a dish for serving nuts and sweets, and it is equally effective as a sculptural object on a desk or console.
