A striking balustre-form vase from the storied Émaux de Longwy manufactory, decorated in the "Éruption" pattern designed by Marielle Sertelet for Kostka. The vase is worked in Longwy's signature technique of polychrome cloisonné enamels over faïence, with raised black outlines separating fields of cobalt blue, emerald and turquoise green, ochre, and crackled gold leaf applied and fired in the kiln — a hallmark of the region's centuries-old enameling tradition dating to 1798.

The composition centers on an abstracted, mask-like Art Deco-inspired motif in black, grey, and cream, anchored by a bullseye of burgundy and yellow concentric rings, flanked by stylized gilt hand or wing forms at the shoulder. The reverse presents a bold graphic composition of vertical red, black, and yellow bands beneath a scrolling gilt volute against the deep cobalt ground, with scattered island-like clusters of gold-flecked green enamel and silver polka-dot motifs completing the design. The rim, foot, and base are finished in crackled gold glaze.

Marielle Sertelet was the first stylist to join the Longwy manufactory's design studio in the early 1990s, working under the Kostka atelier to produce limited-edition art pottery that reinterpreted the firm's traditional cloisonné enamel techniques through a bold, modern lens. Each piece in the "Éruption" series was hand-decorated and individually numbered, making them true limited-edition works rather than production ware.
