A “Paul Follot, Art Deco salon canape, Circa: 1922: French Art Deco solid mahogany sofa with gold leaf, decorated with a carved fruit basket on each arm, elegant arc-shaped backrest, and original fine upholstery—a harmonious combination of classic French luxury and early Deco geometry

Paul Follot (1877–1941) was a prominent French designer and decorator celebrated as a pioneer of Art Deco, though his career began within the Art Nouveau movement. Follot established his own decorating company around 1910, producing luxury furniture and textiles, and later managed the Pomone workshop at Le Bon Marché department store, where he produced refined, elegant Art Deco furnishings for a broader audience, His collaborations ranged from designing ceramics for Wedgwood to creating silver for Christofle, and he played a crucial role in the interior decoration of the SS Normandie ocean liner (1935), a hallmark of Art Deco luxury.
