A refined table lamp produced by Maison Arlus for Maison Jansen, Paris, circa 1950. The tapering column is finished in a rich gunmetal-green lacquer, rising from a splayed tripod base in patinated brass with the sculptural, angular "spider leg" silhouette characteristic of Arlus's most collectible designs of the period. Turned brass feet with rubber pads anchor each leg, and a brass bobeche transitions from stem to shade.
The lamp retains its distinctive character in the tension between the industrial, almost aeronautical tripod base and the more classical, tapered column above it — a hallmark of the Franco-Jansen collaboration that married Arlus's modernist manufacturing with Jansen's decorating pedigree.
Rewired and in good vintage condition, with wear, scratches, and patina consistent with age throughout.
